We're working with a client who is looking to add a Lift & Escalators Supervisor to their team to work across the Canary Wharf area. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established company who are able to offer a great package.

Job Duties:

  • Incident Reporting & Communication: Report all incidents involving lifts and escalators to the Lift and Escalator Services Manager. Record incidents and progress updates in SharePoint, ensuring ongoing communication with stakeholders (e.g., Building Teams, Security) until units are restored to normal operation.
  • Defect Management & Asset Register Maintenance: Assist in uploading Emergency Defect reports to the Asset Register and ensure timely resolution and close-out within designated time frames. Ensure defect visibility for senior management and relevant building teams.
  • LOLER Administration & Defect Follow-Up: Support the accurate administration, distribution, and tracking of LOLER reports across all lift and escalator assets. Monitor and ensure prompt closure of any defects, liaising with contractors.
  • Risk & Method Statement Oversight: Review contractor-submitted Risk and Method Statements. Support the permit approval process, monitor work to ensure compliance with approved methods, and coordinate with building teams to minimise disruption to tenants and visitors.
  • Inspections, Audits & Compliance: Conduct regular quality inspections and audits on all estate lifts and escalators. Maintain up-to-date registers, report conditions to contractors during monthly reviews, and ensure motor rooms are secure and clean. Perform visual escalator inspections.
  • Maintenance Supervision: Ensure all landlord lifts and escalators are maintained effectively and meet operational expectations. Supervise contractor activity, ensuring adherence to service agreements and expected performance standards.
  • Planned Works & Service Disruption Coordination: Keep the Lift and Escalator Services Manager informed of any planned shutdowns or testing. Manage contractors to minimise disruption to tenants and the public.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly and year-to-date performance reports. Present findings to contractors and internal stakeholders, including Building Managers and Directors. Ensure EMS (Elevator Management System) reports meet required standards and are shared during reviews.
  • Major Works & Refurbishments Support: Support planning and execution of major repairs or refurbishments. Ensure work aligns with safety standards, CDM regulations, and contractual requirements.
  • Emergency Response & Entrapment: Attend emergency breakdowns and assist in passenger release when required. Support site-based engineering teams to improve efficiency and minimise downtime, ensuring all safety standards are upheld.
  • Site Inspections & Two-Person Operations: Participate in inspections of lift shafts, motor rooms, and pits. Document findings with photographic evidence. Assist in two-person operations as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Lift and Escalator Services Manager or the Lift & Escalator Manager. Be available outside standard working hours for emergency call-outs and ensure all Health & Safety policies and compliance requirements are met.

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the lift and escalator industry, gained with a reputable and established company in the sector.
  • Possession of an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) relevant to the lift and escalator industry is essential.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with engineers and communicate confidently at all organisational levels.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant Regulations and Codes governing lifts and escalators, including experience with CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices, supported by an IOSH qualification.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: installation, modernisation, or major repairs of lifts and/or escalators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Windows 2010.
  • Demonstrates strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively.

  • Salary Up to £50,000
  • Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm (Need to be accessible OOO in emergencies)
