Data Centre Engineer Swindon £35,000 – £42,000 Our client is looking for an experienced Data Centre engineer to work on a shift basis (4on 4off Days & Nights) to specialise in activities such as cross connects, localised patching, racking and decommissioning. Please note, you must have experience working within a Data Centre environment to be considered for this role. Job Duties Provide support for both pre-scheduled and reactive operational workflows at the Swindon Data Centre or, as pre-arranged, at other locations. Plan and optimize the efficient use of Data Centre space and cabinet utilization in accordance with Vodafone Hosting Data Centre Standards. Prepare quotations in alignment with defined standards and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs). Mount servers, storage, and network equipment in cabinets, adhering to current Data Centre standards. Install Data Centre cabling for managed solutions and internal networks, following design documentation and utilizing current copper, fibre, and patch paneling standards. Deliver pre- and post-sales support to relevant support specialists, Account Managers, and Service Managers. Manage Remedy/ServiceNow tickets, ensuring actions are completed within agreed internal OLAs or Customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Support governance activities by addressing any non-compliance issues and managing them to resolution. Investigate incidents and faults, identify root causes, and implement appropriate remedies. Prepare accurate and timely reports as required. Ensure corrective and repair work complies with current regulations. Key Requirements Experience working in an operational Data Centre environment, including rack elevation design and handling server, storage, and network hardware. Skilled in the installation of network cross-connects and cabinet patching using copper and fibre cabling. Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving faults in live customer hosting solutions. Strong understanding of the mechanical and electrical configurations within a Data Centre.
