A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer to join a prestigious commercial site in the City of London. Representing a well-regarded facilities management company, you will take charge of the on-site maintenance operations, ensuring both planned and reactive tasks are completed to the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in electrical building services and a multi-skilled approach. You will also play a key part in mentoring an on-site apprentice, making it a great opportunity for those passionate about developing future engineering talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks across all building services systems
- Maintain and test emergency lighting and fire alarm systems
- Perform maintenance and testing of UPS systems, motors, and generators (including on/off load testing)
- Work on HVAC systems such as AHUs, FCUs, CRAC units, and VAVs
- Carry out mechanical works on pumps, belts, bearings, seals, and sprinkler systems
- Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Ensure safe working practices, including plant/system isolation as required
- Manage and oversee subcontractor visits and activities
- Maintain all necessary site documentation, including logbooks, RAMS, and permits
- Support and mentor the on-site apprentice engineer
- Communicate effectively with client representatives, providing updates on maintenance activities
- Utilise the PDA system to log and close jobs efficiently
Requirements:
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification
- Solid experience within commercial building services maintenance
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, proactive approach to service delivery and problem-solving
Salary & Benefits:
- £47,000 – £50,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
