Requirements

As part of our team, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in our busy workshops while working towards a fully funded Agricultural Engineering Apprenticeship. Combining practical training with industry‑recognised qualifications, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a fully qualified Agricultural Service Engineer. Agricultural engineering is a skilled profession with excellent long‑term career prospects. As machinery becomes increasingly advanced, qualified engineers continue to be in high demand across the industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll learn how to:

  • Service, maintain and repair agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose faults using the latest computer diagnostic technology
  • Assemble and prepare new and used machinery for delivery
  • Carry out workshop maintenance and support activities
  • Inspect and valet machinery to a high standard
  • Follow safe working practices and manufacturer guidelines
  • Support the workshop team with a variety of day‑to‑day engineering tasks

No two days are the same and you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of machinery, technology and engineering challenges.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A minimum of two National 4 qualifications, including English and Mathematics
  • Two National 5 qualifications in any subject OR Successfully completed a National Certificate in Land-Based Engineering

Applicants must be aged 16 or over.

Training and Development

Successful candidates will initially join our workshop team, gaining valuable practical experience while developing their skills. Those who demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm and potential will be supported through a fully funded apprenticeship programme delivered in partnership with Scotland’s Rural College, Barony Campus. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll receive ongoing mentoring, structured training and the opportunity to build a rewarding career within Hamilton Ross Group. Many of our engineers have built long and successful careers within the business, progressing through apprenticeship routes and developing specialist technical skills along the way.
