The Opportunity
Our Analyst Development Program provides a two-year opportunity within our Portfolio Management Group (PMG) to gain Private Markets experience, training, and mentorship within Hamilton Lane’s Investment Division.
The Portfolio Management Group sits at the heart of Hamilton Lane’s portfolio journey with investors. We start with quantitative research to provide insights when designing portfolios, strategically steering them as they mature, and ensuring portfolio outcomes are achieved by placing investments and managing all factors that impact net returns for investors. The team partners with investment teams (who source and diligence each investment) and client managers (who manage relationships with investors) to provide robust portfolios for evergreen funds (semi-liquids), separately managed accounts and closed-end funds across all asset classes in private markets.
As you begin the Analyst Development Program you will participate in an orientation, which will provide education on Hamilton Lane and the Private Markets Investment Universe and Industry. After orientation, you will become an active member of the Portfolio Management Group supporting Hamilton Lane’s clients globally.
Your Responsibilities
- Analysts will get rotating exposure to all investment teams in relation to portfolio management as well as portfolio modelling at Hamilton Lane. Analysts that successfully graduate the program and stay on as an Associate will have an opportunity to specialise in a certain area of the team
- Evaluate the attributes of private investment opportunities sourced by Hamilton Lane’s Investment Teams to determine portfolio fit by joining investment team meetings to hear about investments first hand.
- Analyse proprietary data sets and build models to support Hamilton Lane’s portfolio construction philosophy, investment allocation decisions, and in-depth market research.
- Use quantitative analysis to develop a deep understanding of all private markets strategies pursued by Hamilton Lane, including venture capital, leveraged buyouts, credit, infrastructure, and real estate across fund investments, co-investments and secondaries.
- Assess the development, performance, and risk factors of client portfolios and make recommendations on adjustments to portfolio strategy
- Address queries from clients, prospects, and industry partners related to portfolio construction.
- Combine investment acumen with quantitative analysis to support the investment process and promote the firm as an industry thought leader.
- Work on special research projects and other company initiatives, including development of portfolio construction tools, the firm’s annual market overview and technology initiatives based on work prototyped by the portfolio management team.
- As you progress and mature in the analyst program, there will be opportunities for client exposures to explain portfolios or research you work on, helping you develop your presentation and client communication skills
- As the two-year program concludes, you will have the opportunity to consider and be considered for opportunities at Hamilton Lane and continue your career growth.

Your Background Will Include
- Undergraduate or Master’s students graduating between September 2025 through June 2026.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and aptitude for working with numerical data and solving quantitative challenges, with a strong interest in applying these skills within the investment domain
- Skilled in effectively communicating insights and conclusions to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in the English language
- Demonstrated interest in the Investment industry (in particular, private markets) through internships, academic and/or extra- curricular pursuits
- Ability to work effectively within a team, able to show examples of being a team player and working towards a shared goal. For example via group projects, societies, sports or music
- Experience with basic statistical analysis, and / or data analysis is required. Programming / scripting skills (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) are a plus but will be provided as part of your training
- Examples of being a self-starter with a drive to excel
