Growing Optical Group | High-Volume Environment | Career Progression
Are you an Optical Assistant with strong prescription knowledge who enjoys the technical side of optics more than the shop floor? This is a unique opportunity to move into a fast-paced, operational role where your understanding of lenses, prescriptions and accuracy will be at the heart of the business.
Our client is a rapidly expanding optical group with a strong presence in the e-commerce space. Due to continued growth and increasing order volumes, they are now looking to strengthen their operations team with multiple hires.
The Role
This is not a customer-facing Optical Assistant role. Instead, you’ll sit within the core operations function, acting as the control point between order, production and dispatch — ensuring every prescription is correct and every order flows smoothly.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Interpreting and processing optical prescriptions (SPH, CYL, Axis, PD, Add etc.)
- Checking orders for accuracy before they move into production
- Ensuring correct lens and frame combinations
- Managing and prioritising a high volume of daily orders (100+)
- Triaging orders based on urgency and turnaround times
- Monitoring order progress and resolving delays
- Liaising with internal teams including customer support and production
- Supporting quality control by identifying and resolving errors before dispatch
This is a high-volume, detail-driven environment where accuracy and organisation are critical.
Who This Would Suit
- An Optical Assistant with strong understanding of prescriptions and lenses
- Someone currently working in optics who enjoys the technical/process side more than retail sales
- A detail-focused individual who takes pride in getting things right
- Someone comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- A strong organiser who can prioritise workload effectively
If you enjoy the “behind-the-scenes” side of optics — this role is designed for you.
What’s on Offer
- £27,500 – £29,000 basic salary
- Glasgow city centre location
- Casual dress
- Staff discount
- Cycle to work scheme
- Gym membership
- Excellent training & development
- Genuine progression opportunities within a growing organisation
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:30pm
One Saturday in three: 9:00am – 3:00pm
When working a Saturday, you will still work five days that week.
If you’re looking to step away from the shop floor and into a more technical, operational role within a growing optical business, we’d love to hear from you.
