We support nearly 1,200 residents, offering senior and dementia care, and care for younger adults with neurological or physical disabilities.
Your Role
As a Cook you will be the senior kitchen team member responsible for preparing, cooking, and overseeing the presentation of meals in accordance with nutritional standards, dietary requirements, and food safety regulations.
You will supervise other kitchen staff and manage the overall workflow of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals from a set menu or dietary plan.
- Ensure meals are well‑presented, nutritious, and meet specific dietary needs (e. g., low‑sodium, diabetic‑friendly, pureed diets).
- Oversee daily operations in the kitchen.
- Train and support less experienced staff as needed.
- Assist with menu development in line with budget and nutritional guidelines.
- Follow strict hygiene, health, and food safety standards.
- Liaise with care or service managers about dietary requirements.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent (preferred).
- Good knowledge of food hygiene regulations (e. g., Level 3 Food Safety Certificate).
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience in cooking in a similar setting.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Team leadership and communication skills.
