The Women's and Gender Studies Department/Program at Hamilton College invites applications for the Elihu Root Peace Fund Post-doctoral Fellowship. This is a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Women's and Gender Studies, beginning July 1, 2026.

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience and interest in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would enhance the educational experience of students and further the College's educational goals.

The Women's and Gender Studies Department has three faculty members with broad teaching and research interests and a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate pedagogy and accessible scholarship. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses on class, U.S. race or ethnicity, and/or disability.

Applicants with a PhD in women's and gender studies are preferred, although candidates with PhDs in other fields will also be considered. The teaching load for this position is three courses a year. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $57,500 to $60,000.
