This is a resident network engineering role, embedded onsite at a large public sector body, supporting a critical environment where stability, reliability, and calm troubleshooting really matter. You’ll be the on-the-ground network specialist, working closely with IT teams to keep the network running smoothly. Responsibilities
- Act as the resident network engineer onsite.
- Provide day-to-day support across the LAN, WLAN, and network services estate.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents in a calm, methodical manner.
- Support Extreme Fabric and Edge network environments.
- Assist with network monitoring, fault resolution, and minor change activities.
- Work closely with IT teams, third parties, and the MSP delivery team.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to operational best practices.
- Ensure network stability in a mission-critical healthcare environment.
Skills / Must Have
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a network engineering or network support role.
- Strong LAN switching and routing fundamentals.
- Experience or solid understanding of Extreme Networks technologies, including: Extreme Fabric and Edge (EXoS, VOSS), Extreme WLAN solutions (CloudIQ, ECC), Extreme software platforms (NAC, A3, XMC, Analytics).
- Good knowledge of LAN protocols including Layer 2, Layer 3, OSPF, BGP, and Fabric concepts.
- Working understanding of firewall technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Forcepoint).
- Comfortable working 5 days per week onsite in Rotherham.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
