Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer
Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to join a growing internal IT function during a period of significant transformation.
This is a hands‑on role where you'll play a key part in modernising the organisation's identity platforms, improving user experience, and strengthening security across a global technology environment.
You'll initially focus on supporting a major IAM transformation programme, including the migration to a new identity platform, before evolving into a broader governance and optimisation role.
This position offers the opportunity to shape how identity services are delivered, influence future security initiatives, and work closely with infrastructure, security, architecture, and application teams.
If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact, work with modern IAM technologies, and help build best practices within a collaborative and fast‑growing business, this is an excellent opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise Identity & Access Management platforms including Okta, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Support a major IAM transformation programme, including migration activities from legacy identity platforms.
- Configure and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and SCIM provisioning across business applications.
- Integrate new Saa S and enterprise applications using SAML, OAuth 2.0, Open ID Connect (OIDC), APIs and related authentication technologies.
- Manage user lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding and access management.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and Application teams to deliver secure identity solutions.
- Act as the technical point of contact for external managed service providers, coordinating project delivery, escalations and service improvements.
- Support quality assurance processes, maintaining development, test and production environments for IAM deployments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of authentication policies, conditional access and overall identity security.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support guides.
- Identify opportunities to improve end-user experience by simplifying authentication and reducing unnecessary user friction.
- Support governance initiatives, helping establish robust IAM processes, standards and documentation as the platform matures.
Skills/Must have
- Commercial experience administering Identity & Access Management platforms.
- Experience working with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Exposure to Okta or another enterprise IAM solution such as Ping Identity, Sail Point, Forge Rock, Auth0 or Keycloak.
- Experience implementing or supporting SSO integrations using SAML, OAuth 2.0 and Open ID Connect.
- Knowledge of user lifecycle management, identity governance and access control principles.
- Experience integrating cloud or Saa S applications with enterprise identity providers.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within enterprise IT environments.
- Experience working alongside managed service providers or third‑party technology partners.
- Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams.
- A proactive, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to work effectively in a growing and evolving environment.
- Relevant certifications in Okta, Microsoft Identity or Microsoft Security would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Join an organisation investing heavily in its technology and security capabilities.
- Opportunity to play a key role in a business-wide IAM transformation programme.
- Work with modern identity technologies across a complex enterprise environment.
- Hybrid working arrangement.
- Collaborative and supportive IT team with opportunities to influence technical direction.
- Ongoing learning, training and professional development.
