Hamilton Barnes are seeking an experienced Optimisation Consultant to join our clients team on an initial 6-month contract. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 3x per week on site in Wokingham. You will be working alongside one of the UK's leading Energy Organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and deploy dispatch and control algorithms to support balancing the UK electricity system.
- Ensure ongoing improvements in optimisation strategies based on system needs.
- Engage deeply with the Balancing Transformation Programme and the needs of the Electricity National Control Centre (ENCC).
- Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, business) in an Agile environment.
What You Will Ideally Bring:
- Expertise in Operations Research, especially Linear Programming (LP), Quadratic Programming (QP), and Mixed Integer Programming (MILP, MIQP, MIQCP).
- Proficient with Gurobi Optimizer (or equivalent like CPLEX, CBC).
- Understanding of electricity system balancing, dispatch processes, and control systems.
- Python ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Pyomo, etc.)
- Gurobi Optimizer (for LP, QP, MILP, etc.)
