About the Organisation: An established, UK-wide group of technology and communications specialists is seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to join their managed services team on a permanent basis. The group provides comprehensive IT Support, Cloud, Cyber Security, Professional Services, Communications and Infrastructure services to a diverse client base, with a growing presence in the education sector. This particular role will be primarily based at an independent college in the Farnborough area, delivering first-class onsite IT support to staff and pupils, while collaborating closely with a wider education-focused IT services team.
About the Role: This position is ideal for a customer-focused, technically capable engineer with experience working in a varied IT environment - preferably within education, though not essential. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the college's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud-based systems and end-user devices. Alongside reactive support duties, you will be involved in system maintenance, project work, documentation, and assisting with IT asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality technical support, ensuring prompt resolution of helpdesk tickets and in-person issues.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the college's IT network infrastructure and cloud systems.
- Install, configure, and manage a range of devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and interactive displays.
- Administer and support Microsoft services including Azure Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange Online.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and service providers when required.
- Support and maintain device management systems and classroom technology.
- Regularly monitor systems for errors, updates, and potential security threats, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Ensure systems remain safe and compliant with safeguarding requirements.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation for IT assets and procedures.
- Collaborate with the wider IT services team to deliver continuous service improvements and contribute to project work.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT support or infrastructure maintenance.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
