Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and design secure, scalable Back End systems using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Lead technical discussions, code reviews, and provide mentorship to development teams.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, product owners, and stakeholders to translate business needs into architectural solutions.
  • Design and implement microservices and event-driven architectures on AWS/GCP.
  • Research emerging technologies and integrate them into solution design where relevant.
  • Participate in estimation, planning, and risk management activities.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years in software development, with at least 6 years in Java/AWS microservices architecture.
  • Proven experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Strong expertise in Java (JDK 17/21) and frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Aurora).
  • Hands-on with AWS (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Step Functions) and GCP.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Terraform).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.
Desirable Skills (Not essential):
  • Certifications in cloud/architecture (AWS Architect, TOGAF, etc.).
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and message brokers (SNS/SQS).
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, CQRS, and Saga patterns.
  • Exposure to tools like Datadog, SonarQube, and Apigee Gateway.
Location: Manchester/Hybrid (3 days per week on site)
Duration: 6 months - Extension scope
Rate: Up to £575 Per day - Inside IR35
