This DV Cleared Infrastructure Engineer opportunity offers the chance to work within mission-critical private cloud environments supporting UK Defence. You will be hands-on with modern VMware platforms, infrastructure automation and DevSecOps practices, contributing directly to the design, resilience and operational stability of secure cloud estates. Responsibilities:- Design, deliver, and support VMware-based virtualised infrastructure, ensuring environments are reliable, scalable, and secure.
- Implement and enhance automation for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management across Windows and Linux platforms, reducing manual intervention and improving consistency.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and supporting tooling to improve the quality and speed of infrastructure and platform delivery.
- Support containerised workloads and hybrid cloud services with a focus on availability, performance, and security.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through scripting and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
- Collaborate with architects and delivery teams in Agile environments, embedding security best practices into day-to-day engineering activities.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the infrastructure estate.
- Active DV Clearance (sole UK national)
- Strong experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria)
- Hands-on automation experience using Terraform and/or Ansible
- Solid knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/CentOS) environments
- Experience with DevSecOps tooling such as Git/Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube
- Hybrid working model (3–4 days onsite)
- Work on high-impact, secure defence programmes
