The organisation offers a varied field-based role supporting major operational sites, with the opportunity to work across both cellular fault finding and vehicle communications installations. This opportunity is ideal for a Field Engineer with experience in cellular fault finding looking for a hands-on role with excellent variety. The position focuses primarily on diagnosing and resolving cellular network issues while also supporting vehicle installation projects, offering a company car, regular overtime opportunities, and long-term career stability.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out cellular fault finding on PBE Axell systems and associated infrastructure at a major UK airport
  • Documenting and reporting fault findings using established internal report templates for escalation
  • Operating as the primary dedicated engineer for this subcontracted customer account for 15-20 days per month
  • Supporting vehicle installation work as an additional workstream outside the core airport commitment
  • Driving to and operating within the airport environment as required
  • Contributing to the on-call rota over time as the role develops

Skills/Must Have

  • Demonstrable cellular fault finding experience, this is the core technical requirement for the role
  • Full UK driving licence required for all aspects of the role including airport access and potential on-site driving
  • 5 years of verifiable background history (employment or education) required for the airside pass application. Gaps of more than 28 days must be justifiable and supported by documentation
  • Ability to start within a two-month notice period, earlier availability is a clear advantage given the imminent start date for the core workstream

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with PBE Axell equipment, candidates with prior PBE exposure will require less ramp-up time and are prioritised, though strong cellular engineers without it will be considered
  • 5G experience
  • Vehicle installation experience, enables deployment on the secondary workstream from day one
  • DMR or PMR radio experience
  • RFID exposure

Benefits

  • £40,000-£42,000 base salary (flexibility available for an exceptional candidate)
  • Company car provided, including for the daily commute
  • On-call allowance of approximately £3,000 per year once on the rota
  • Overtime earnings estimated at £4,000-£5,000 additional per year, time and a half on weekdays, double time on Sundays
  • Total package potential of £47,000-£49,000+ including on-call and overtime
  • Flexible working hours between 7:00am and 5:30pm (no rigid 9-5 structure)
  • Site familiarisation visit available before accepting the offer for candidates who want to see the working environment
