This is a pivotal "hands-on" position within a high-growth telecommunications provider. Reporting to the IT Lead, you will act as the primary IT support and project delivery expert for the organisation. You will be responsible for both maintaining existing systems and delivering critical infrastructure projects, including a significant, ongoing Radius project. This is a role for an experienced engineer who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment where expectations are high and response times are short.
Technical Ownership: Provide sole-point responsibility for IT support and systems project delivery.
Project Impact: Take the lead on the ongoing Radius project, utilising deep Linux knowledge to drive technical infrastructure forward.
Strategic Influence: Work directly with senior stakeholders in a high-pressure environment where your ability to push back and challenge effectively is a core requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Systems Administration: Manage and maintain both Windows and Linux environments, ensuring stable system performance.
- Project Delivery: Own the technical delivery of IT infrastructure projects, specifically including active work on Radius implementation.
- Network & Security: Oversee the network and security aspects of the infrastructure, identifying and mitigating risks.
- Operational Support: Act as the primary escalation point for IT support, ensuring high availability and resolving outages as they arise.
- Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with the wider team, including providing guidance to apprentices and supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Skills/Must have:
- Dual-Stack Expertise: Proficient in both Windows and Linux from a system administration and maintenance standpoint.
- Core Networking: A meaningful and practical understanding of networking principles.
- Security Mindset: Hands-on experience with security best practices within an infrastructure environment.
- Resilience: A "pushback mindset", you must be comfortable managing expectations at a C-level and navigating the fast-paced business.
