A leading UK connectivity and managed network services provider is seeking an experienced Principal Network Engineer to join its growing Core Network Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly technical environment working on large-scale ISP and service provider infrastructure projects, including major core network rebuild and re-architecture initiatives. The role is heavily project focused and would suit a senior-level engineer who enjoys hands-on technical delivery, network design, troubleshooting and working on complex carrier-grade infrastructure.
The Role
You will play a key role in the design, implementation and support of large-scale core network environments, working across MPLS, BGP, WAN, broadband, peering and security technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing core network solutions
- Delivering major network transformation and migration projects
- Producing HLD and LLD documentation
- Acting as a senior technical escalation point
- Supporting ISP and service provider infrastructure environments
- Working closely with internal technical teams and customers
- Supporting out-of-hours project work and upgrades where required
Required Experience
- Strong ISP, MSP or service provider background
- Strong MPLS and BGP experience
- Network design and project delivery experience
- Strong Cisco routing and switching knowledge
- CCNP level knowledge or equivalent experience
- Experience troubleshooting complex network environments
Desirable Experience
- Juniper technologies
- Firewall and network security technologies
- Automation and scripting
- Linux systems administration
- VMware or Hyper-V
- ITIL/process-driven environments
