Are you a technical leader with a passion for the high-stakes world of mission-critical infrastructure? We are representing a global leader in the media and technology space seeking a Data Centre Manager to oversee their London-based facilities and international colocation sites.
In this role, you will lead the strategic and tactical operations of multiple high-availability environments, ensuring 24/7 uptime for critical IT, broadcast, and transmission systems.
The Role
You will be the focal point for the planning, operation, and maintenance of the company’s on-premises and off-site data centres. You will work independently with a wide latitude for judgment, managing everything from complex failover scenarios to long-term capacity planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee critical power and cooling systems, including UPS, PDU’s, generators, and CRAC units.
- Capacity Planning: Manage spatial allocation, load management, and rack elevations (power, weight, and cabling).
- Strategic Engineering: Review proposed equipment placements and provide root cause analysis for any operational abnormalities.
- Vendor & Project Oversight: Manage external vendors for periodic maintenance and monitor construction activities for quality and compliance.
- Safety & Standards: Develop and maintain Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for routine maintenance and system recovery.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Core Requirements:
- Education: Background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Degree preferred).
- Experience: Full lifecycle project management knowledge regarding the design and construction of mission-critical facilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), battery systems, switchgear, and chillers.
- Skills: Proficiency in utilizing software applications for IT installation planning; AutoCAD skills are a significant plus.
- Communication: Ability to serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, providing clear and concise reporting.
