We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist communications engineering business based at Woolwich Arsenal. They deliver large-scale integrated communications systems β€” analogue and digital β€” for major public and infrastructure projects.

As a Communications Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of system design, lead technical delivery, and see projects through from first gate to final client handover. This is a role where your work genuinely matters. The systems you design keep critical environments running and people connected.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Developing and deploying communication system architectures to meet complex project requirements
  • Hardware configuration and validation in a lab environment, including on-site testing and commissioning
  • Producing design material through project gates in line with delivery plans β€” including LLDs and formal submissions
  • Working within BS19650 document management and version control procedures
  • Collaborating with CAD teams to ensure accurate technical drawings for formal issue
  • Providing research and calculations to validate compliance with standards
  • Supporting cross-functional teams and producing O&M and handover documentation

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Formal IT or craft qualification β€” degree or NVQ level preferred
  • Certifications in network, acoustic modelling, video surveillance, or analogue/digital data mediums (beneficial)
  • Familiarity with legacy analogue equipment and some commissioning experience on site
  • Awareness of RAMS, EMC, HF, Cyber Security, Health & Safety, or HAZID processes
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team office environment on large integrated projects
  • Ability to pass government-level DBS security clearance (clean criminal record required)

  • Β£50,000 – Β£60,000 depending on experience
  • Full time, office based β€” Woolwich Arsenal, London SE18
  • Core hours: 09:00 – 17:00
  • Site attendance across Greater London also required
  • PPE provided

  • Some night shifts required during critical commissioning phases
