This job is for the position of School Business Manager at Farnworth CE Primary School, located at Pit Ln, Widnes, WA8 9HS.

Salary: HBC6 19-23

Contract: Fulltime, or Term time Permanent depending on the successful candidate's availability and the needs of the school. Salary will vary depending on FT or TTO.

Start Date: 01/09/26

We are now seeking a dedicated and skilled School Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a vital role in the effective running of our school.

About the Role

As our School Business Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the school's business functions, ensuring that our resources, systems and environment fully support high quality teaching and learning. Working closely with the Headteacher, Governors and the Local Authority, you will lead on:

  • Financial management: budgets, monitoring, reporting, procurement, audit and compliance
  • Human resources: recruitment, payroll, staff records, absence management and safeguarding
  • Premises and health & safety: maintenance, security, statutory checks, contractor management and risk assessments
  • Administration and operations: efficient office systems, data management, statutory returns and website oversight

This is a varied and rewarding role where your leadership will make a direct and meaningful difference to the daily life of the school.

  • Strong financial management, budgeting and resource planning skills
  • Excellent organisational, leadership and communication abilities
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety and employment legislation
