Our Team:

This is an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to be part of the Prevention & Wellbeing Service, a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy and social work intervention to Halton residents. Redeveloped in February 2024, the team has the wellbeing of Halton residents at the core of the service, providing advice, signposting, and preventative services. Assessments are carried out where appropriate following robust screening by the prevention hub within the team.

The team are based in Runcorn Town Hall and provide a service Monday to Thursday 9-5 and 9-4.40 on a Friday. Whilt this post is for 22.5 hours per week there may be a potential increase of these hours.

We operate a Hybrid working system,3 days office based 2 days working from home (based on FTE)

Your Contributions:

The Occupational Therapists and Community Care Workers have responsibility for promoting independence within people’s homes and providing care management for vulnerable and disabled people in Halton. The occupational therapy team has a range of responsibilities including:

  • Assessment of the long-term needs of residents who have a substantial and enduring disability for equipment, minor and major adaptations to their home that will increase their level of independence

  • Undertaking moving and handling assessments

  • Carrying out blue badge assessments

  • Providing informal support to our community care workers with their case work

We are seeking to recruit an Occupational Therapist who is interested in working specifically with people and their families, providing a high quality service aimed at improving their independence at home. You will be visiting clients in their own homes, assessing their needs, providing information, advice, equipment and, where necessary, recommending adaptations – all with the aim of helping them to be independent at home and supporting their families/carers.

It is a busy service with opportunities to gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of equipment and adaptation provision and moving and handling assessment. Previous experience, particularly in moving and handling assessment is preferred, but not essential, as training is available. The team has excellent working relationships with colleagues in the council, and in health and housing services.
