How you will make an impact
The Vice President, Business Development, Europe is a groundbreaking opportunity to lead Halozyme’s business development efforts across Europe. You will have the chance to drive our Business Development licensing for Halozyme’s innovative Drug Delivery portfolio, including ENHANZE SC technology, small and large volume auto-injectors, Hypercon hyperconcentration technology, and Surf Bio Hyperconcentration technology.
As a central leader, you will build senior-level connections across target European companies, including existing and prospective partners. Your objective will be to raise awareness of our technologies, discover new opportunities, and guide the negotiation and finalization of new licensing agreements.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Supporting the formulation of Halozyme's SC drug delivery strategies in Europe, striving to expand our business by moving forward additional partnered products and gaining new licensing agreements.
- Identifying and encouraging new opportunities through self-directed analyses, business meetings, and reviewing new publications and data.
- Developing and showcasing a solid technical understanding of Halozyme’s Drug Delivery technologies.
- Engaging key collaborators and decision-makers within European companies to gain new deals through compelling value propositions supported by technical and commercial analyses.
- Working with legal teams to complete CDA and MTA agreements necessary for deal progression.
- Leading negotiations and working with legal partners to develop proposed term sheets and licensing agreements, ensuring internal alignment and resolving issues through discussions with collaborators.
- Gaining deep knowledge of Global and EU market landscapes, major product developments, trial outcomes, and company activities in relevant areas.
- Providing insights on strengthening and growing the impact of drug delivery technology in partnering materials and presenting this material to prospective partners.
- Performing financial and market modeling in Microsoft Excel and crafting internal presentation slides to support strategic and business development decisions.
- Managing and maintaining business development activity, including tracking, documentation, and status reporting.
- Collaborating with other functions like Commercial, Legal, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Alliance Management, and Finance as needed.
- Engaging with potential partners, deal sources, consultants, and vendors as required.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Located in a prominent EU pharma/biotech hub with an extensive network of contacts throughout leading EU pharmaceutical and biotech firms.
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally.
- Experience working independently while aligning with corporate strategy and goals.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in business, quantitative, or life sciences field; with 20+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of experience and education).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare-focused consulting role.
- At least 10 years of business development experience, including evaluation activities such as market assessments, financial modeling, argument development, and contract generation.
- Corporate accounts and direct selling experience is a strong plus.
- Proven success in identifying new business opportunities and supporting the execution of licensing agreements from start to close.
- Strong business, negotiation, organizational project management, analytical decision-making, and influence management skills.
- Strategic and innovative problem solver who is a quick learner, adaptable to new situations, and thrives in a fast-paced setting.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical and biotech clinical development and regulatory procedures.
- Familiarity with medical device development and regulatory procedures is preferred.
- A deal sheet summarizing accomplishments.
- Proficiency in software such as Box, Intralinks Data room systems, and BioMed Tracker (or equivalent).
Travel:
This role requires up to 50% travel to support partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
