Job Title: Registered Building Inspector Department: Operations Reports to: Area Building Control Manager Purpose of the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization as a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector at a pivotal time of development. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the long-term success of the organization while promoting its values and professional culture. The role involves managing a portfolio of building control projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated standards. This includes planning and housing adaptation duties across various types of construction and conversion projects. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities * Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO9001) and all legislative requirements. * Follow best practices in risk management and support compliance with PI/PL insurance and Building Safety Regulator requirements. * Undertake restricted activities according to the Registered Building Inspector Code of Conduct to ensure compliance with regulations. * Support and mentor less experienced staff to maintain high service standards. * Assist in introducing and delivering new products and services. * Conduct assessments of applications for building control. * Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required. * Manage a portfolio of projects in a designated area. * Provide technical guidance to clients and team members. * Optimize time management for inspections and plan-checking requirements. * Maintain accurate inspection records and reports. * Build and manage relationships with customers to foster business development. * Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Essential Skills: * Keen eye for detail with a process-oriented approach. * Ability to make pragmatic decisions for safe, compliant buildings. Qualifications and Experience: * Chartered or working towards full corporate membership of a professional body (e.g., Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). * Hold or be working towards Technical Class 2 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status. * Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Building Safety Act (2022). * Expertise in fire safety, health and safety, and the construction design process. * Additional Requirements: * Strong knowledge of different building types and construction stages (e.g., RIBA Stages). * Demonstrated competency in assessing safety and risk. * Experience in site inspections, plan-checking, and compliance assessments. * Valid UK driving license.
