Transport Planner / Coordinator
For salary info contact Halo Personnel. Based in Normanton, the role runs Monday to Friday 12:00pm to 8:30pm. The company is a privately owned manufacturer of fitted kitchen and bedroom furniture, operating nationally with a 50% share of the private housing market and supplying one in every three kitchens to the social housing market. They operate a fleet of over 120 vehicles, completing more than 5,000 deliveries nationwide each week. The position is in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, based at one of the client’s distribution centres in Normanton, WestYorkshire.
Responsibilities
- Plan routes for drivers and organise the fleet from on‑site and regional out‑based depots to achieve planned deliveries nationwide.
- Organise smaller deliveries from company depots to customer sites.
- Re‑schedule routes at short notice while maintaining efficiency.
- Route the fleet efficiently to maximise and maintain customer service, ensuring legal compliance with driver working hours and fuel utilisation.
- Assist the team with additional administrative functions within the transport office.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience within a fast‑paced transport operations role.
- Experience in transport/vehicle route planning.
- Ability to manage workload to meet timed daily duties.
- Capable of working within a small team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to pass information directly to drivers.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the company, its products, and reputation.
- Presentable appearance with a strong first‑impression mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail, with accuracy as essential.
- Strong time‑keeping and time‑management skills.
- Willingness to learn new personal and professional skills and grow within the role.
