Salary: £40,000-45,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week including paid breaks, 8am-4pm Monday to Friday

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate People Team Manager to join our Team based in Bristol, supporting the wider group remotely across all 38 locations. In this role, you will be second in command to the Head of People, responsible for leading the day to day delivery of all People HR and Recruitment operations, whilst ensuring the functions operate efficiently, consistency and drive a high performing culture.

You will be a key point of contact for line managers, providing expert support and guidance on employee relations matters such as investigations, disciplinaries and grievances as well as performance related matters. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, where standards are high and attention to detail, sound judgement and resilience are essential.

The role will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the People and Recruitment Teams, ensuring priorities and standards are met
  • Manage and support the People and Recruitment Teams, providing clear direction, feedback and development
  • Coach and support managers on disciplinaries, grievances, capability, and performance matters, ensuring compliance with employment law and internal HR policies and procedures
  • Point of contact for employee relation matters including planning, managing and risk mitigation of employment cases
  • Deputise for the Head of People when required and make day-to-day operational decisions
  • Oversee recruitment activity, ensuring vacancies are filled promptly and to the right standard
  • Monitor People HR and recruitment data to identify issues, trends and areas for improvement
  • Work closely with managers across the business to support employee engagement, retention and team performance

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in HR with solid knowledge of UK employment legislation
  • Experience of managing People/HR and Recruitment Teams
  • Strong employee relations experience and the confidence to deal with complex and sensitive situations
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, impartial, and able to build strong working relationships
  • Empathetic and solution-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
