Are you an experienced Procurement Manager with a background in international sourcing, supplier management and inventory planning?

We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing product-led business for a Procurement Manager to take ownership of the procurement function, leading supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, inventory strategy and product compliance.

This is a highly visible role where you'll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure products are sourced competitively, margins are protected and the supply chain continues to support business growth.

This isn't simply a purchasing role.

We're looking for someone who has personally sourced products from international manufacturers, understands the commercial realities of importing, and enjoys balancing strategic procurement with hands‑on operational buying.

The Role

As Procurement Manager, you'll be responsible for

  • Developing and implementing the company's procurement strategy.
  • Managing supplier relationships with UK and international manufacturers, including direct sourcing from the Far East.
  • Identifying, onboarding and developing new suppliers while monitoring supplier performance through KPIs and regular reviews.
  • Negotiating pricing, lead times, MOQs, rebates and commercial agreements to protect margins.
  • Managing international imports, freight, container utilisation, landed costs and Incoterms.
  • Leading demand forecasting, replenishment planning, safety stock and inventory optimisation.
  • Managing product ranges, including new product introductions, product lifecycle reviews and discontinuations.
  • Developing contingency plans to minimise supply chain risk and improve resilience.
  • Producing procurement reports, dashboards and commercial insights using ERP systems and Excel.
  • Leading product compliance, supplier certification and audit readiness.
  • Supporting ESG initiatives, ethical sourcing and supplier governance.
  • Managing and developing a small Procurement and Compliance team.
  • Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Finance, Sales and senior leadership to support commercial objectives.

About you

We're looking for a commercially minded Procurement Manager who enjoys taking ownership and influencing business performance.

You'll ideally have

  • At least five years' procurement experience within a product‑led importing, wholesale, promotional merchandise, consumer goods or distribution business.
  • Direct experience sourcing finished products from manufacturers in China and the Far East.
  • Proven experience managing supplier relationships, supplier performance and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of importing, including freight, container utilisation, Incoterms, landed costs and MOQs.
  • Experience buying products for stock rather than project‑specific purchasing.
  • Strong inventory management experience, including forecasting, replenishment planning, safety stock and slow‑moving stock management.
  • Experience managing product ranges, including new product introduction and lifecycle management.
  • Excellent ERP system knowledge with strong data management and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience producing reports and using purchasing data to support commercial decisions.
  • Exposure to product compliance, certification, regulatory requirements or audit readiness.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Desirable
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards).
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting ESG, sustainability or ethical sourcing initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Sage 200 or similar ERP systems.

What's on offer?

  • £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
  • 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays.
  • Workplace pension.
  • On‑site parking.
  • Employee referral scheme.
  • Annual Leave Purchase Scheme.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • The opportunity to play a key role within a growing, entrepreneurial SME.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership, where your ideas and commercial input will genuinely influence business decisions.
