As a member of the Operations team, the Warehouse and Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all materials logistics activities across the warehouse, production area and order fulfilment functions. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant movement of goods, both internally and externally. The Warehouse and Logistics Manager will lead and develop the warehouse, materials, and order fulfilment teams, while ensuring import and export activities are completed accurately, compliantly, and in line with business requirements. The role supports business growth by maintaining robust logistics processes and acting as the escalation point for complex trade and compliance matters.
- Overall responsibility for logistics operations including warehouse management, materials handling, and import and export of goods.
- Direct line management of the Warehouse Team Lead, Material Technician, and Order Fulfilment Coordinators.
- Ensure goods are received, stored, picked, packed, and shipped accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Oversee imports and exports both domestically and internationally, ensuring all shipments comply with relevant customs, trade, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate completion and control of shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, commodity codes, and certificates where required.
- Apply a practical understanding of Incoterms to ensure correct responsibility, risk, and cost allocation for international shipments.
- Act as the primary escalation point for import and export queries, liaising with freight forwarders, customs agents, and the Chamber of Commerce to determine the correct course of action when guidance is unclear.
- Maintain awareness of import/export policies and regulatory changes, ensuring processes remain compliant.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Planning, Production, Finance, and Customer Services to support operational and customer requirements.
- Manage warehouse layout, material flow, and stock movements to support efficiency and utilisation of space.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through effective stock control processes, regular cycle counts and Half Year/ Full Year Stock Takes.
- Identify risks within logistics and distribution activities and develop mitigation plans to minimise disruption to the business.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics processes to improve cost, efficiency, safety, and service levels.
- KPI reporting to support decision making.
- Ensure logistics operations are compliant with health, safety, quality, and audit requirements.
- Support the leadership team with logistics input to operational planning and business decision-making.
- Actively support and lead the Sustainability strategies through the Warehouse and Logistics function.
- Lead and sustain 5S standards across the warehouse and logistics areas, ensuring a safe, organised, and visually managed environment that supports efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Relevant Experience:
- Proven experience in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution role within a manufacturing or operational environment.
- Experience managing and developing operational teams.
Education and Training:
- Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations related qualification (desirable).
Skills, abilities and specialist knowledge:
- Working knowledge of import and export processes and customs compliance.
- Basic understanding of Incoterms and their application to international trade.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to seek out and interpret guidance where answers are not immediately clear.
- Confident communicator, able to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
