Electronics Field Service Engineer – Based Derby / Stafford area - £41,000 starting salary plus overtime package

Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd. is looking to recruit to the Field Service department an Electronics Field Service Engineer to maintain, repair and commission gas detection equipment. No previous experience in Gas detection products is necessary as full product training will be provided. The successful candidate will need to live in the Derby & Stafford area to primarily cover customers in and around that area.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Field Service Team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support and customer service to all customers as well as attending customer sites to perform proactive maintenance, repairs and commissioning of our products. Your main duties will include:

  • Servicing, calibrating and repairing electronic gas detection equipment to the relevant standards.
  • Ensure all serviced products are tested and left fully operational and demonstrated to the site responsible person (recorded as such on-service paperwork).
  • Support other team members on jobs that require multiple engineers.
  • Provide customer ‘user training’ when required – once experienced.
  • Work closely with the Service Admin team making sure jobs are scheduled efficiently and meeting customers’ requirements.
  • Ensure service reports are completed accurately and submit them for processing on time.
  • Complete RAM’s and POWRA’s when required (training given).
  • Responsible for van stock holding and calibration gas holding, ensuring that it is appropriate for the customer base in your region, and that ‘life critical’ components are cycled regularly to ensure we can offer a first-time fix where possible.
  • Ensure all personal PPE is maintained within inspection expiry dates, all service clothing is clean and respectable at the start of the day, and all service equipment is ‘up to date’ and operational.
  • Cover a geographical area based from the Derby & Stafford area and other areas to cover 2-man jobs.

Your skills & experience

  • HNC / HND in an electronics/electrical field or equivalent technical qualification preferred. Crowcon will provide full product training.
  • Previous Field Service Engineering experience would be an advantage, but not necessary.
  • Experience in electronic equipment service, troubleshoot/repair.
  • Commissioning and/or installation experience desirable.
  • Excellent customer communication skills in both writing and verbal.
  • Full UK driving license essential.
  • Confined Space, IPAF and Safety Passport is preferable, but full training provided.
  • The role can be physically demanding when using access equipment and when occasionally accessing confined spaces.
