The Production Leader role is to lead the production team to achieve maximum productivity and output without compromising health, safety, environmental management, quality, cost and delivery performance.

Accountabilities
  • Monitor and evaluate production performance along with build level requirements, whilst identifying opportunities for improvement across multiple product ranges in accordance with the KPIs.
  • Maintain and develop your own KPI board for your area with support from the Deputy Production leader.
  • Ensure daily huddles covering all staff are maintained where KPI and other relevant information are shared in a timely manner.
  • Monitor product build quality and yield levels to identify improvement opportunities, training requirements, and basic technical first‑line support and to escalate where required.
  • Collection of accurate production data and reporting in the format required on a timely basis.
  • Lead and coach high performing teams, including Deputy Production Leaders and Production Operatives.
Authorities
  • HR System - Approval of holiday absence requests and management of exceptions within set deadlines.
  • Responsible for conducting return to work interviews.
  • Responsible for conducting 1:1s.
  • ERP system scrap authority to a maximum value of £50.
  • Confirmation of the sign‑off of the produced product.
ResponsibilitiesHealth, Safety and Environment
  • Responsibility for the H&S of all employees within your areas - Ensuring all preventative measures in place at the time are adhered to.
  • Work closely with the H&S team to constantly monitor and improve the current state of H&S for our employees with the use of Risk Assessments and preventative/corrective actions.
  • Drive a H&S culture where H&S is our Number 1 priority.
  • Ensuring compliance in line with COSHH regulations is maintained and regular audits of chemical cupboards are completed and check sheets maintained.

  • Develop those that you lead to be competent and confident leaders themselves.

  • Employee engagement is critical to a motivated workforce, work with the Production Supervisors who are responsible for ensuring engagement levels are maintained.
  • This includes actively driving improvements in Employee Survey results by developing and implementing team action plans and communicating progress regularly to the production operators.
  • Use the Company Reward and Recognition platform to celebrate notable achievements in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced members of your team to ensure alignment with the Apollo way of working.
  • To develop the production team by maintaining regular performance reviews with all direct reports, holding regular 1-1s when required.
  • Carry out effective mid-year and full-year talent development reviews for your team using the tools provided.
  • Setting clear and measurable objectives and developing plans to achieve them.
  • Support the Production Supervisors with talent management and acquisition on the shop floor.
  • Performance management of your Direct reports to achieve required standards and taking corrective action as and when required.
  • To manage holidays, sickness and other types of absence in line with company policies and processes for direct reports.
  • To advise HR of staff absences daily and complete all sickness administration on an employee's return to work before operators return to the cell.
  • Manage and review employee phased returns and work‑related restrictions associated with health, well‑being and upon return to the business following sickness.
  • Carrying out disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings as required.
  • To manage first‑line disputes and carry‑out conflict resolution.
  • To carry all duties associated with this job role in compliance with the requirements of GDPR.
Technical Requirements of the position
  • To communicate issues, present information and report results in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • To identify and/or implement opportunities for process improvements, productivity improvements, breakdown and lost time reduction.
  • Ensuring all quality documentation is maintained and controlled to the latest revision levels.
  • To achieve and exceed the required work environment cleanliness controls on production lines and processes.
  • Identify abnormalities, monitor adherence to processes and procedures through regular audit checks.
  • To Plan the workload for multiple product ranges in line with business requirements.
  • Advise production management, supply chain and sales as required, of resource shortages if negatively impacting direct sales orders.
  • To be an advocate for Continuous Improvement Activities.
  • Support team‑oriented activities and demonstrate collaborative team interaction.
  • Use of an ERP system is key to Apollo’s core business system.
Deputisation Responsibility
  • Deputising for the Production Supervisor and/or other Production Leaders as required during spells of absence.
  • Alignment, use and adherence of the ERP system, SOPs QIPs.
  • To Schedule the workload for multiple product ranges in line with business requirements.
  • Advise production management, supply chain and sales as required, of resource shortages if negatively impacting direct sales orders.
  • At times you may be asked to take part in the execution of strategic activities.
Development Responsibilities
  • You will train and develop skills for using the current HR software to control absences, holidays, sickness and employee records.
  • You will continue to develop your people leadership skills and will receive training and workshops from HR.
  • You are expected to become a coaching expert.
  • You will be offered training in how to deal with conflict and/or carry out investigation meetings within the disciplinary procedure.
