The role will be responsible for all the HSE activity across the distribution centre and head office ensuring legal compliance for all HSE processes. Reporting into the Head of Outbound Supply Chain, the role will be a key member of the Supply Chain team; responsible for all legislative compliance associated with HSE, driving the HSE culture, implementing strategic plans for HSE activities to develop and improve the business.

Your Responsibilities

  • Advise management on accident prevention, environmental incidents, and HSE policy implementation.
  • Develop safe operational risk assessments and procedures.
  • Review and maintain HSE processes in line with recognised ISO standards such as ISO14001.
  • Manage health surveillance, drugs and alcohol testing, and training systems.
  • Monitor operations for compliance with the Integrated Management System.
  • Ensure energy conservation to achieve annual reductions.
  • Liaise with government departments and third parties as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and implement HSE improvement strategies.
  • Foster a culture of change and motivate others through effective communication and team building.
  • Deliver HSE awareness training.
  • Analyse incident and environmental data to drive performance improvements.
  • Coordinate H&S, and environmental management system processes and internal & external audits.
  • Implement safety and environmental management systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Organize training programs on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate workplace incidents to prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, training, and provide support.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Follow up on audit actions and non-compliances.
  • Perform risk assessments and follow up on resulting actions.
  • Stay informed on H&S and environmental legislation changes and assess their impact.
  • Generate reports on environmental performance and compliance.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and non-compliance issues.
  • Provide training on environmental policies and practices.
  • Stay updated on environmental legislation and communicate changes to management.

To be successful you will need:

  • NEBOSH Diploma/ NVQ L5 in OHAS.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards Graduate Membership.
  • In depth knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 37001, OHSAS and ISO 45001 and integrated management systems.
  • IMEA qualification and membership or equivalent.
  • Experienced in working in a multi-site environment with warehousing, transport and Manufacturing within FMCG industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge in health, safety and environmental legislation and compliance.
  • Experience of Leadership across multi-site logistics and volume hourly paid employees.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and inspire others.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.
  • Excellent people management and influencing skills.
  • Flexibility in terms of work location and hours/shifts.
  • Experience of driving and leading through change.
  • Experience of leading projects.
