The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the organisation’s finance function and ensuring robust financial management, governance and control. The role provides strategic financial leadership, supports executive decision-making and ensures the organisation’s financial sustainability and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and manage the finance function, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Develop and implement the organisation’s financial strategy in line with business objectives.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes.
- Produce timely and accurate management accounts, statutory accounts and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow, treasury activities and funding arrangements.
- Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisers.
- Provide financial insight, analysis and recommendations to the Board and senior leadership team.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and internal controls.
- Support business growth initiatives, investment appraisals and strategic projects.
- May require additional hours during key reporting, audit and planning cycles.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Significant senior-level experience in finance leadership roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and financial management.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, Boards and external partners.
