Halliburton Arbroath are looking for a Core Technology (CTG) Engineer. The CTG engineer will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of completion tools carrying out tasks such as:

  • Set up of customisation designs
  • Processing ECN changes
  • Providing technical expertise to manufacturing or field representatives
  • Identifying/implementing design or process improvements

This associate role is well suited to recent graduates, planned 2026 graduates or individuals with 1-2 years of professional experience. For the appropriate candidate, there is also scope to hire at a more senior level.

The CTG engineer should be capable of:

  • Producing engineering drawings and applying geometric tolerancing
  • 3D CAD modelling
  • Engineering calculations – pressure vessel theory, tensile loads, thread shear, tolerance stack ups
  • Interpreting functional specifications and providing technical output accordingly
  • Reviewing tools and identifying load paths related to the tool’s functionality
  • Managing a workload that may contain multiple short to mid-term projects

Preferred:

  • SolidWorks user
  • Mathcad user
  • Experience of PDM systems
  • Experience working with downhole completion tools

Further skills description:

  • Knowledge of international standards relating to completion tools, eg API 19V, API 11D1
  • Under supervision applies functional specifications and uses engineering tools to design hardware for product changes and new development
  • Assists in preparing component specifications, follows work processes to document designs, and prepares materials for design reviews
  • Under minimal supervision, uses engineering tools to document calculations and compare the results in controlled databases
  • Identifies the testing objectives at a component level in accordance with Halliburton's Health, Safety, and Environment procedures and evaluates test results
  • Collaborates with mentors to understand the basic content required to submit an invention disclosure, and recognises ideas that have IP potential without disclosing confidential information
  • Works effectively as a team member by communicating clearly and efficiently to provide innovative solutions
  • Takes the initiative to go beyond what situations require and focuses on attention to detail by making sure work is done correctly, completely, and to the highest standards

Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
