Job Duties:

  • Mechanical Technician Workshop-Based Role – Dyce, Aberdeen
  • Join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient cementing equipment rebuilds.
  • This position supports workshop-based equipment refurbishment and rebuilding activities.
  • As a Mechanical Technician, you will assist with the rebuild, commissioning, and maintenance of a wide range of oilfield equipment.
  • You will work closely with workshop personnel and project teams to ensure equipment is delivered and operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with procedures.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the rebuild of cementing equipment in the Aberdeen workshop.
  • Perform maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of Halliburton equipment, including:
    • Diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrain components
    • High pressure triplex pumps and centrifugal pumps
    • Air compressors
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Gearboxes, PTOs, and generators
    • Chemical metering systems
    • 12/24V electrical systems
    • Equipment cabins, controls, and general oilfield equipment
  • Install and/or replace new or reconditioned parts to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Conduct functional testing and verification of equipment readiness following maintenance or rebuild activities.
  • Interpret and work from mechanical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Supervise and coach third‑party personnel on specific tasks or assignments when required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Support equipment mobilisation, preparation, and readiness for project deployment.
  • Work across multiple environments including workshop, yard and vendor locations as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through feedback on equipment performance and maintenance practices.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to Aberdeen workshop from home location.

Education and Experience:

  • Technical School certificate or equivalent in a mechanical discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in a related mechanical, maintenance, or oilfield services role (or equivalent experience).

General Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and operational excellence.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with rigging and lifting operations.
  • Forklift truck licence.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools (Cat ET or similar).
  • Familiarity with diesel engines, pumps, hydraulic systems, and oilfield equipment.

Leadership & Initiative of Job:

  • Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision while supporting team objectives.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work in challenging environments.
