Overview
In this field role, you lead and supervise SDL field teams at well sites, ensuring successful logging operations and data delivery. You will interpret mud-logging data to characterize oil and gas shows and coordinate with customers on reports and deliveries. You drive safety, quality, and efficiency in rig-up/down, data collection, and coordination with cross-functional teams. This role offers hands-on field leadership with opportunities to influence project outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise SDL field crew and set performance standards
- Collect and interpret mud logging data (Depth, Gas Units, ROP, etc.) to identify oil/gas shows
- Analyze and document SLS Zone of Interest and Show Reports
- Provide lithologic descriptions and identify formations
- Assemble mud logs and Drilling Database per guidelines and transmit to customers
- Communicate mud logging findings to customers (Morning Report, Show Notification, engineering issues)
- Perform specialized tests and gather additional data as required
- Coordinate collection and delivery of cutting samples with proper transmittals
- Rig-up and rig-down safely and efficiently with inventory management
- Brief relief personnel and ensure smooth personnel changeouts
- Maintain quality of service to encourage repeat business
- Position is field-based and contributes to value creation
Key requirements
- Bachelor in Engineering, Science, Geology or related discipline with minimum 5 years SDL experience
- Passed company tests or met task guideline requirements
- Met minimum competency for INSITE Spec-SDL
- Demonstrated technical aptitude to standards
- Strong communication, supervisory, leadership, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills
- Ability to perform quality work with no direct supervision
- Capable of performing as Senior Unit Manager or Optimization Field Professional
- Relevant offshore certificates as required
