Overview

In this on-site role you supervise and optimize the Logging-While-Drilling process to deliver high-quality data and service to clients. You act as the lead engineer on most jobs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and effective communication with customers. You provide technical consultation on mud hydraulics, BHA planning, formation evaluation and drilling tendencies, while mentoring junior personnel and supporting performance improvements. This field position offers hands-on problem solving with cross-functional teams to drive reliable, data-driven results.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee on-site LWD operations, including tool prep, data acquisition, log generation and QC
  • Serve as lead engineer on assignments and ensure data quality for client delivery
  • Provide technical consultation on mud hydraulics, BHA planning, formation evaluation and drilling tendencies
  • Test tools and equipment before/during/after jobs; troubleshoot operational issues
  • Accurately complete service vouchers, incident reports, EJCS and CPI entries
  • Assemble BHAs as planned with correct torque, doping and handling; ensure BHA compatibility with DD
  • Generate daily LWD reports and share with client sites and MWD coordinator; submit daily cost where applicable
  • Support training and development of junior personnel; promote teamwork
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and coordinate with resources to ensure service readiness
  • Maintain proficiency in LWD software and provide analysis to client representatives
  • Interpret well logs, perform survey calculations, basic geosteering and data QC

Key requirements

  • Two years of field experience in LWD or related area
  • Completion of basic M/LWD training program; company tests or task guideline compliance
  • Ability to read and interpret formation logs and directional survey information
  • Good communication, arithmetic, data entry and recording skills
  • Offshore and on-site safety certificates; field-ready safety training
  • High school diploma or equivalent; STEM degree preferred
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
