Overview

In this role you lead on-site Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) operations, ensuring accurate data delivery and high service quality for clients. You act as the technical consultant, coordinating with DDs and client teams to address data needs, tool performance, and BHA planning. You test equipment, solve field issues, and maintain thorough documentation. This is a field position that combines hands-on LWD work with client-facing analysis and coaching of junior personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site LWD process, including tool prep, data acquisition, log generation, QC and service delivery
  • Serve as lead engineer on most jobs and ensure data accuracy and timely reporting
  • Provide technical consultation to clients on mud hydraulics, BHA planning, formation evaluation, drilling trends, mud system and BHA dynamics
  • Test tools before/during/after jobs and identify/correct operational issues
  • Complete required forms, databases and reports (e.g., EJCS, CPI, equipment records)
  • Ensure BHA assembly matches plan with correct torque, doping and handling
  • Coordinate with Directional Driller to ensure BHA compatibility and correct tool-face references
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ensure resources needed for service are available
  • Proficient in LWD software and provide analysis to client representatives (survey calculations, log generation, basic geosteering, QC)
  • Produce daily LWD reports and share with client teams and MWD coordinator
  • Submit daily LWD cost where applicable
  • Assist in evaluating onsite personnel performance and train junior staff
  • Foster teamwork among all personnel involved in the work
  • Maintain awareness of customer requirements regarding directional surveys
  • Ensure safety and compliance through appropriate certifications
  • Field position with offshore/onshore elements

Key requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of field LWD experience
  • Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to required standards
  • Good communication, arithmetic, data entry and recording skills
  • Ability to read/interpret formation logs and directional survey data
  • Relevant on/offshore safety certificates
  • This is a field position
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline is preferred
  • Must complete basic M/LWD training and pass company tests or meet task guidelines
