Job Duties:

  • Entry level for professional work.
  • Performs assignments designed to develop professional or technical work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks.
  • Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of alternatives.
  • This classification is used for employees performing a designated function for an identified duration.
  • Applying coding and machine learning techniques to support development of tools for geological assessments.
  • Automation and expediting of workflows.
  • Delivering technical presentations to colleagues.
  • Ensuring standards and quality.

Qualifications:

  • May include continuing education.
  • An honours degree (2:1+) in Geoscience and working towards a postgraduate degree preferably MSc level in Geology or Data Science.

Role Requirements:

  • Proficient in Python.
  • Knowledge in relational databases (MSSQL/Postgres) including spatial relationships (Postgis plug-in).
  • Ability with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Data analytical skills and knowledge of databases.
  • A professional attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable working within a team and contributing to the geoscience and technological discussions within the company.
  • Knowledge about geospatial data and techniques and of working with subsurface datasets (e.g., wireline, seismic, biostratigraphy).
  • Strong understanding of specific geoscience domains such as stratigraphy, sedimentology, or petroleum geology.
