Hallamshire Tennis & Squash Club is launching a new in-house coaching programme from January 2026 and is seeking experienced Tennis & Padel Coaches to join our coaching team in a supporting coach role. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the launch of our new coaching structure and work closely with our Head Coach. You will play a key role in programme delivery and player development across the full pathway, from early-stage juniors through to performance players. We are looking for friendly, supportive and enthusiastic coaches who are member-focused, provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all players, and are committed to their own personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality coaching across our full programme, including Junior, Adult and Performance tennis sessions.
- Provide both group and individual (1-to-1) tennis coaching, including term-time coaching and holiday camps.
- Deliver group padel coaching sessions (individual padel coaching is not part of this role at the moment).
- Help assess new players and support the induction of new members into the coaching programme.
- Promote club activities such as Social Tennis, Team Training and events, helping to increase participation and member engagement.
- Support community outreach activities, including schools coaching and assisting with university tennis provision delivered at the Club.
- Promote coaching opportunities and support the growth of the programme by engaging with members and prospective players.
- Arrive ahead of sessions to set up equipment and conduct basic session checks, including informal risk assessment, ensuring courts and equipment are left ready for the next user.
- Maintain accurate session registers and, where required, share relevant session or player feedback with the Head Coach.
- A commitment to upholding the Club's safeguarding policy and protecting children and young people at all times is essential.
- Support players at competitions, matchplay events and internal tournaments.
- Deliver coaching to a high standard of professionalism, inclusion, safety and safeguarding at all times. Coaches may be asked to lead on a specific area, such as competitions and teams. Where this applies, competitive remuneration will be offered.
Requirements and Qualifications
- LTA Tennis Coach qualification – Level 2 or above.
- Current DBS, Safeguarding, First Aid, and LTA Coach Accreditation.
- Padel coaching qualification (LTA or BPCA) desirable but not essential.
- Confident coaching juniors, adults and performance pathway players across group and 1-to-1 environments.
- Friendly, reliable, supportive and professional coaching style.
- Able to work flexibly across daytime, weekday evenings and weekends.
- Committed to continued personal development and open to mentoring from the Head Coach.
- Eligible to work in the UK. Applicants must include details of two referees, who will only be contacted after the interview stage.
