We are looking for an experienced Freelance Mid‑Senior UI Designer to support our Experience Department and help shape thoughtful, high‑quality digital experiences for upcoming projects.

About the Role

This role is hands‑on and varied. You’ll work across websites and digital products, collaborating closely with designers, strategists and developers to create work that is clear, scalable, and beautifully executed. We move at pace, care deeply about craft, and take real pride in delivering outstanding work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Website redesign projects
  • Website reskin and UI refresh work
  • UI audits and optimisation
  • Ongoing UI support through retainers
  • Digital products that sit alongside websites (B2B websites, products and intelligent experiences)

What you’ll bring to the role

You’re a confident UI designer with a strong visual eye and a practical mindset. You’re forward‑thinking in your approach to design, staying on top of emerging trends, tools and opportunities. You enjoy using technology to streamline workflows and explore how AI and intelligent experiences can elevate designs, both in how we work and what we create. You’re genuinely fluent in Figma. You build componentised design systems using auto‑layout, variants and styles, and design in a way that supports smooth design‑to‑code workflows. You have experience designing for B2B environments across complex journeys and multiple audiences. You think beyond static screens, designing interactions, states, simple motion and using prototyping to clearly communicate intent and behaviour. You’re collaborative by nature and enjoy working with developers, designing with build in mind and iterating confidently within technical frameworks and CMS constraints. You work closely with UX designers and strategists, getting involved early to turn ideas, insight and strategy into clear, usable UI. Accessibility is part of how you work. You design with WCAG AA standards in mind from the start, creating inclusive interfaces with clear focus states, strong contrast and accessible layouts. You’re comfortable working in agency environments and understand time allocation, budget and delivery realities. You adapt your approach to suit each project while keeping quality high and work moving forward.

Experience we are excited about

  • Strong UI portfolio with website and digital product work.
  • Experience designing for WordPress sites.
  • Bonus experience with Webflow, Shopify or headless CMS setups.

Who you will work with

You’ll work with Hallam’s Experience team, a tight‑knit group across UX, UI, and development with big ambitions and high standards. We innovate, push boundaries and collaborate to create thoughtful, scalable, well‑crafted work.

We highly encourage applicants from under‑represented ethnic groups and LGBTQ communities. Throughout the recruitment process, we strive to make interviews as diverse and gender‑balanced as possible. As long as you are qualified, you will receive equal consideration for employment regardless of race, religion, colour, gender or disability.
