We are currently seeking an inspirational and motivational Art and Textiles Technician with the drive, commitment and creativity to support us in providing the best possible opportunities for our pupils.

You will be required to work 22.2 hours per week, excluding a 30-minute unpaid lunch, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, during term-time only.

The successful candidate will be a reliable, enthusiastic and flexible team player who can communicate well with staff and pupils alike.The duties and responsibilities attached to this post are as follows:

  • Pre-prepare materials, e.g. clay, paints, paper and cloth for all practical lessons.
  • Wash all equipment thoroughly and maintain clean and tidy sinks.
  • Arrange for towels and cloths to be washed as needed.
  • Tidy and maintain store cupboards and storage areas.
  • Order stock as required and check deliveries carefully when they arrive.
  • Check the department budget regularly with the Finance Assistant.
  • Assist with photography and computer-based projects (where appropriate).
  • Support in lessons when required and help pupils with practical and research tasks.
  • Photocopy and scan work and make up booklets for exams and homework tasks.
  • Mount and display student work in the department and create displays about specific events and processes.
  • Repair aprons by using the sewing machine.
  • Help to hang and organise the final exhibition.
  • Maintenance of the guillotines and laminator in the staff room.
