Location: Halifax Fan (UK)

Reporting to: Functional and Hierarchical Manager, Production Manager (UK).

Purpose of role:

To form, fabricate and weld from sheet steel or subassemblies to a predefined design - impeller welding. Fabricator Welders shall be coded to specified weld standards.

Fully participate as a member of the Fabrication and Weld Team sharing responsibility for ensuring deliveries are in line with the MPS (Master Production Schedule).

Quality, Cost, Delivery & Safety (QCDS) responsibilities:

  • Quality: Know the design sold, and ensure the fabricated assembly meets that design 100% of the time. If unsure, STOP and clarify.
  • Cost: Minimise the cycle time from the cut date through complete, ready for delivery.
  • Delivery: Know and meet the MPS schedule required date for fitting.
  • Safety: Maintain a no compromise Health and Safety compliant work environment for yourself and all employees who enter your work area. Meet the criteria for 5S.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the skills necessary to complete the assigned tasks required to meet the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Understand the MPS and ensure you can complete a job on time or have it rescheduled.
  • Maintain your currency as a coded welder and ensure your work meets the requirements dictated by the standards specified for a given design.
  • Be aware of all applicable work instructions/procedures. Ensure discipline in their use.
  • Through self-inspection, ensure zero defects make it out of your department. Own the quality of your own work.
  • Never compromise your safety, or that of anyone else. If you see or feel a situation may compromise safety, STOP and report.
  • Ensure you know that the process, tools and capacities utilised to manufacture a given design allow for the job to be completed without compromising safety.
  • Using a combination of 5S Boards, Visual Postings and Team Meetings, maintain awareness and transparency with all members of your Team in what is working, and what is not.
  • The team should constantly review, measure and optimise its methods, so that Halifax Fan is better assured to meet its commitments, while maintaining total order fulfilment cycle time.
