Garrowby Estate is located 13 miles east of York and comprises a significant property portfolio made up of the following:
- Two principal houses
- 40 let farms
- 140 let houses and cottages
- 750 acre in-hand farm
- Stud farm
- 1140 acres of forestry
- Various commercial properties including a village pub
Garrowby Estate and three other estates owned by the Halifax family are managed from the Estate Office in Bugthorpe. There are 40 employees including an in-hand Works Department with a team of nine joiners and builders.
Halifax Estates owns an attractive portfolio of rural residential property ranging from one bed annexes to large country houses. Each property is unique, often full of character and in enviable locations. We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of accommodation and we are able to do this with our in-house teams of builders and joiners who are dedicated to maintaining Estate property. We routinely undertake refurbishment work before bringing vacant properties to the market, ensuring that we attract excellent tenants who in return maintain the properties to equally high standards.

About the role:
We are seeking a Residential Property Manager to join the Estate Office team to undertake all responsibilities relating to the residential property portfolio, with support where required. This will require a personable and adaptable individual, along with a sound understanding of legislation affecting let residential property. The Residential Property Manager will work closely with the Buildings Department and the Assistant Estates Director. The nature of this role requires excellent communication skills and a can-do approach to working.
Main duties:
- New lettings
- Lease renewals and rent reviews
- Ensuring 100% compliance with statutory legislation
- To manage tenant issues
- Instruct repairs
- Property inspections
- Identify and coordinate with the Buildings Department any turnaround works prior to reletting
- Use of and inputting data onto property management software
About you:
- Friendly manner with the ability to build excellent relationships with tenants
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An organised and diligent individual
- Honesty, enthusiasm and capacity for hard work
- Good IT skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Landmark property management, Wordpress website management
- Full UK Driving licence
- At least two years\’ experience managing let residential property

What\’s on offer:
- Competitive salary dependant on experience and qualifications.
- The successful applicant will be entitled to join the Estate\’s pension scheme and the employer will contribute 6% of salary.
- Initial holiday entitlement is 22 days pa.
- Death in Service cover at 1 x salary.
Additional information:
Working hours are to be agreed with the successful candidate but will be 25-30 hours per week Monday – Friday between 8am and 5.30pm.
