My client is looking for a Lead Shopify Developer to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone who has strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for e-commerce platforms like Shopify. You will play a critical role in shaping our client solutions, driving technical excellence, and leading a team of talented developers - you will also remain hands-on.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Shopify Development Projects: Oversee the development and implementation of custom Shopify solutions for clients, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Shopify developers. Provide technical direction and ensure best practices are followed to deliver high-quality projects on time.
- Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and offer expert advice on Shopify-related queries. Be the point of contact for technical discussions.
- Custom Theme & App Development: Lead the development of custom Shopify themes, integrating advanced functionality to meet the unique needs of our clients. Create custom Shopify apps as needed to extend store functionality.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Champion best coding practices and ensure that development is performed with high standards in mind, including using Git, code reviews, and maintaining clear documentation.
- Performance Optimization: Regularly review and optimize e-commerce websites to ensure high performance, page speed, and a seamless user experience across devices.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues that may arise during development or post-launch.
- Stay Current with Trends & Technologies: Keep up-to-date with the latest Shopify features, tools, and best practices. Constantly evaluate new technologies and assess how they can be applied to improve the team's workflow and deliverables.
- Collaboration with Designers and QA: Collaborate with designers to bring creative concepts to life on the Shopify platform and work with QA teams to ensure all deliverables meet quality standards.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Shopify Expertise: Strong proficiency in Shopify's liquid templating language, API integrations, custom app development, and Shopify Plus. Hands-on experience with the Shopify ecosystem, including apps, plugins, and third-party integrations.
- Front-End Development: Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js). Familiarity with liquid templating for building responsive and visually appealing e-commerce websites.
- Back-End Development: Solid experience with Shopify back-end development and creating custom Shopify apps. Proficiency in integrating Shopify with external APIs and databases.
- E-commerce Best Practices: In-depth understanding of e-commerce best practices, including user experience (UX), conversion optimization, product catalog management, and payment gateway integration.
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience in leading development teams, managing resources, and delivering projects to deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior developers.
- Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and offer timely solutions. Familiar with debugging tools and effective troubleshooting strategies.
- Version Control & Collaboration Tools: Proficient in Git for version control, and familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, or Trello.
- Agile Methodology: Experience working in Agile development environments and familiarity with sprint planning, stand-ups, and task management.
