We are looking for a strong Azure Platform Engineer for a contract role focused on building and supporting secure, scalable internal engineering platforms. This is not a standard data engineer role. The work sits across Azure platform engineering, Databricks, Terraform, CI/CD, governance, identity, and secure access environments. You will be helping shape and improve core cloud services used by engineering teams across the business.
What you will be doing:
- Build and improve secure, scalable Azure platform services
- Support and enhance Azure Databricks environments with a focus on governance, access, cost control and operational stability
- Develop and maintain Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and platform changes
- Improve CI/CD platforms and engineering workflows
- Help design and manage secure access environments for internal users, remote teams and contractors
- Work across platform, security and engineering teams to reduce risk and improve operational standards
- Drive automation and standardisation with a cattle not pets mindset
- Support identity, RBAC and governance controls across Azure services

What we are looking for:
- Strong experience in Azure platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform
- Good experience with Azure Databricks
- Background in CI/CD, automation and infrastructure as code
- Experience working in secure, regulated or enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of governance, access controls, platform reliability and operational risk
- Good communication skills and ability to work with both engineers and wider stakeholders
Nice to have:
- Experience with AVD, landing zones, hub/spoke networking or enterprise Azure foundations
- Experience supporting internal developer platforms or build services
- Financial services / fintech experience
This is a good fit for someone who has worked as an Azure Platform Engineer, Cloud Platform Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, Databricks Platform Engineer, or Platform / DevOps Engineer with strong Azure and Terraform experience.
