Our team is passionate about crafting seamless customer experiences and pushing the limits of Shopify's ecosystem.
As they continue to grow, they're looking for a Senior/Lead Shopify Developer to join our fully remote team, someone who can take ownership of complex Shopify projects, guide our development team, and drive best practices across our technical delivery.
The Role
As a Senior/Lead Shopify Developer, you'll be responsible for leading technical builds across a range of Shopify Plus projects. You'll collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver performant, scalable, and beautifully crafted ecommerce experiences. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior developers, defining coding standards, and contributing to architectural decisions that shape our technical direction as a Platinum Partner agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Shopify and Shopify Plus development projects.
- Architect, develop, and maintain custom Shopify themes and apps.
- Implement clean, efficient, and reusable code using modern front-end and back-end technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, UX, Strategy, QA, PM).
- Optimise site performance and scalability.
- Integrate third-party APIs and custom functionality using Shopify's API and GraphQL.
- Stay ahead of emerging Shopify features, trends, and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to other developers.
- Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and project estimations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in web development, with at least 3 years specialising in Shopify/Shopify Plus in a senior or lead position.
- Deep understanding of Shopify's Liquid templating language and theme architecture.
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React/Vue, and modern front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.).
- Experience building custom Shopify apps using Node.js or Ruby on Rails.
- Familiarity with Headless/Hydrogen/Storefront API approaches.
- Proven experience with Shopify APIs, GraphQL, and webhooks.
- Strong understanding of ecommerce principles and UX best practices.
- Experience leading projects or mentoring developers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Must be based in the UK with full right to work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with TypeScript.
- Familiarity with headless CMS platforms (e.g. Contentful, Sanity).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows.
- Previous experience in an agency environment.
