Overview: We’re looking for an experienced Shopify Technical Architect to join our growing Shopify practice. In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of scalable Shopify Plus eCommerce solutions, helping clients translate business requirements into robust technical architectures. You will act as the technical authority on Shopify, guiding development teams, shaping integration strategies, and ensuring best practices across the full solution lifecycle. This is a fully remote role, with optional access to our Central London office for collaboration and team events.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical architecture and solution design for Shopify Plus implementations.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and integration strategies.
- Act as the Shopify subject matter expert, covering APIs, Liquid, theme architecture, Flow, and Functions.
- Design integrations with ERP, PIM, CRM, OMS/WMS, payment gateways, and marketing platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
- Ensure solutions follow best practices for performance, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders, leading technical workshops and discovery sessions.
- Support pre-sales activities, including solutioning, estimation, and technical proposals.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect, Lead Developer, or Senior Engineer working with Shopify Plus.
- Strong knowledge of Shopify architecture and APIs, Liquid templating and theme development, and integration patterns with third-party platforms.
- Solid web development background in HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript (ES6+), REST APIs, JSON.
- Experience working with modern JS frameworks (React or Vue).
- Experience delivering large-scale eCommerce implementations.
- Understanding of Agile delivery and CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Headless Shopify (Hydrogen, Next.js, Nuxt.js).
- Experience building custom Shopify apps.
- Knowledge of Shopify Flow, Scripts, and Functions.
- Experience working in a digital agency or consultancy environment.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
