Established in 1997, Halfway Surfacing & Civil Engineering Ltd is a leading civil engineering and surfacing contractor based in Sheffield. We operate across Yorkshire and throughout the UK, delivering projects including road construction, asphalt surfacing, Section 278 works, carriageways, footways and associated highway infrastructure.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor with experience in highways, surfacing or road construction to join our expanding commercial team. The role will be primarily office-based, with regular visits to sites.
- Identify, analyse, and manage commercial risks.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontractors and suppliers, working closely with site teams to ensure accurate cost and resource planning.
- Regularly visit sites and liaise with site managers to survey works, take measurements, and collect valuation data.
- Prepare valuations for interim applications for payment, including variations.
- Monitor and manage costs, preparing subcontractor payments and negotiating final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and main contractor requirements.
- Demonstrable Quantity Surveying experience within highways, asphalt surfacing, road construction or associated infrastructure works.
- Experience managing projects commercially from tender stage through to final account.
- Experience in forecasting, budget control, cost reporting and commercial risk management.
- Knowledge of groundworks and general civil engineering would be advantageous.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
- Full UK driving license.
