We’re on the lookout for a strategic and insightful Engagement & Culture Manager to join the Halfords People team! We are seeking a creative engagement professional to define and drive our colleague engagement strategy and culture-enhancing initiatives that reflect our business direction and enhance the colleague experience. You will balance big-picture strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, from strategy development to survey creation and insight analysis – ensuring the colleague voice is at the heart of everything we do. Our people are our superpower; you will drive an enhanced colleague experience through actionable feedback mechanisms, elevating our people and engagement agenda with leaders, and driving positive cultural change at all levels. Key responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the People Leadership Team, lead the design and implementation of initiatives that promote company values, diversity, and inclusion at all levels of the organisation.
  • Design and implement employee feedback mechanisms/listening strategy for Halfords, which will include: Annual survey (design, management, interpretation and reporting of results, and training for leadership on how to make best use of the insights), implementation of other surveys, such as pulse surveys, leavers’ surveys, onboarding surveys, culture audits etc., focus/listening groups/colleague forums/business involvement groups.
  • Drive an innovative approach to colleague engagement, understanding market insights and keeping the business up to date with the latest thinking.
  • Ensure the colleague engagement agenda is connected to our organisational strategy and is well communicated across the organisation.
  • Lead with a data first approach! You will leverage approaches such as predictive analytics, development of dashboards and reporting tools, reporting on engagement (and cost/impact) and translating data into actionable meaningful insights for leaders.
  • Build meaningful relationships across the organisation, influencing and holding to account our Exec and Leadership team, partnering with internal communications and managing relationships with third parties.
  • Partner with the wider People team to provide insights, surface engagement concerns and drive passionate champions of change within the People team.

About you:

  • Proven transferable experience within employee engagement, organisational culture, HR analytics or a related area.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on delivery – sector specific experience is not required.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of employee research best practice with hands on experience designing employee surveys (including engagement) from scratch.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and present insights to a variety of audiences, including senior leaders and executives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder, influencing and business partnering skills at all levels for both internal and external customers/partners.
  • Strong project management skill set including scoping, budget management, stakeholder mapping and the ability to demonstrate impact and progress against key metrics.
  • Highly collaborative, natural curiosity and a growth/change mindset.
