We are looking for a Legal Counsel, Litigation to join our Legal team on a one‑year fixed‑term contract (parent cover) based in our London office, but working flexibly between office and home. This role finds a hybrid approach, combining home and office work to support mission alignment and collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Report directly to the Head of Litigation within the IP & Litigation team and oversee a broad range of contentious legal matters, including commercial litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
- Work directly with the Group’s business and legal personnel, and external counsel where appropriate, to manage contentious and litigation matters within a wider strategic context, providing full spectrum of advice, guidance, support and oversight.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the business, developing strategies to handle and mitigate legal risks.
- Provide advice and support to other parts of the Legal and Risk function, including Business Integrity & Financial Crime and Compliance departments.
- Maintain Flutter International’s related internal records.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in an internationally recognised law firm, with in‑house experience a plus, across a broad range of contentious matters.
- Strong organisational, project management and execution skills.
- Proactive approach to recognising needs, anticipating issues and solving problems.
- Flexibility and ability to take on a varied workload, balance and prioritise multiple time‑sensitive tasks, and manage competing priorities effectively and independently, driving results and meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Ability to take ownership of own workload and adopt a proactive approach to tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and external advisors; a team‑oriented attitude and superior attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and pre‑empt key legal issues and present information on a variety of risks to the business in an accessible manner.
