Our People team is central to this journey, partnering closely with Commercial Fleet Services leaders to build capability, enable performance, and deliver sustainable workforce solutions – ensuring our colleagues can grow, thrive, and build rewarding careers while supporting long‑term business success at Halfords.
As Senior People Business Partner you will operate as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to senior leaders across our Commercial Fleet Services business. You will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the people agenda, providing insight, challenge and thought leadership to enable sustainable performance, growth and transformation. You will focus on building deep relationships founded on trust and credibility, influencing at senior level and translating commercial strategy into clear, pragmatic people plans. This role goes beyond operational support, with a strong emphasis on leadership capability, organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and change. This is a hybrid role, based across our Stafford and Redditch sites (3 days per week), with 2 days working from home.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a strategic People Business Partner to senior leaders within Commercial Fleet Services, aligning people priorities to commercial strategy and long‑term business goals.
- Build deep, trusted relationships with leaders, providing credible challenge, insight and coaching to strengthen leadership capability, confidence and effectiveness.
- Translate business and workforce strategy into clear, outcome‑focused people plans, supporting growth, operational excellence and organisational resilience.
- Lead and sponsor complex people programmes and change initiatives, applying strong change management principles to embed sustainable outcomes.
- Use people data, commercial insight and organisational diagnostics to identify risks, opportunities and interventions that drive performance and engagement.
- Shape and influence organisational design, workforce planning and capability planning to ensure the business is future‑fit.
- Act as a senior advisor on complex people matters, supporting leaders through transformation, change and periods of ambiguity with confidence and clarity.
- Serve as the key interface between the Commercial Fleet Services leadership team and People Centres of Excellence, ensuring joined‑up, high‑impact solutions.
- Champion a high‑performance, inclusive culture that supports wellbeing, engagement and accountability across the business.
About you
- Significant experience operating as a senior‑level People / HR Business Partner within a complex, fast‑paced, operational or B2B environment.
- Proven track record of partnering with senior leaders, building trust and influence through insight, commercial understanding and professional credibility.
- Strong experience leading organisation‑wide change, transformation or strategic people initiatives, with the ability to deliver lasting impact.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to connect people strategy to business performance, productivity and growth.
- Highly confident using people data, operational metrics and organisational insight to shape decision‑making and prioritisation.
- An experienced relationship builder and coach, comfortable operating in ambiguity and challenging constructively at senior level.
- Resilient, adaptable and confident operating in a dynamic B2B environment.
